O&G Magazine welcomes contributions from members of the obstetrics and gynaecology community, professionals from related disciplines, and consumers.
We publish informative, accessible and engaging content grounded in clinical insight and informed by the latest developments in obstetrics and gynaecology.
We’re also committed to amplifying consumer voices with lived experience, recognising their contribution to shaping care and understanding across the specialty.
What we’re looking for
We accept:
- Feature articles — aligned with the theme of each issue. These may be written from a clinical, research or consumer perspective.
- Case studies — adapted into educational feature articles.
All contributions are reviewed by the O&G Magazine Advisory Group prior to publication. Please note submission does not guarantee acceptance.
Themes for 2025:
Each issue of O&G Magazine is guided by a central theme. Themes are usually planned a year in advance but may shift in response to topical issues or developments in the field. While features are generally commissioned, we welcome ideas from contributors whose work aligns with a future theme.

Seeking Expressions of Interest: Case Studies & Clinical Trials on Endometriosis
We’re currently accepting submissions for the upcoming issue of O&G Magazine themed around endometriosis.
Endometriosis Case Studies
We welcome real-world case studies that explore the clinical, diagnostic and lived experience aspects of endometriosis. Topics may include surgical, medical, psychosocial and interdisciplinary approaches to care. Ideal contributors include clinicians, researchers and healthcare professionals.
To express your interest, please complete this form by 4 July and include:
- A working title
- A 100–150 word summary highlighting your case and any key takeaways or clinical insights
- Author name(s), role(s), and contact details
Clinical Trials
We’re also compiling a Clinical Trials Resource Page to highlight active and upcoming trials in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. This supports collaboration, participant recruitment and research awareness.
To be included, please complete this form by 4 July and provide:
- Trial title and summary
- Target participant group and eligibility criteria
- Location(s)
- Principal Investigator(s) and contact details
- Registration number (e.g. ANZCTR, ClinicalTrials.gov)

Article Guidelines: Word Count, Style and Formatting
Word Count
- Feature articles: 1,000–1,500 words (including references)
- Case reports: Up to 1,200 words
Writing Style
- Clear, engaging and appropriate for a medically educated audience
- Avoid academic jargon where possible
- Use subheadings to structure content
Referencing
- Vancouver style
- Integrate references into the main body (no footnotes or EndNote)
- Strip “https://” and “www.” from URLs
Formatting
- Submit as a Word document
- Use bold for headings and italics only when necessary
- Avoid coloured text, underlining or other formatting
Editing
All accepted content is subedited by RANZCOG’s Communications team to meet house style, maintain medical accuracy and ensure clarity.

Author Photo
- High-resolution (300 dpi) head-and-shoulders photo
- Supplied as JPG or TIFF file
Article Images
- High-resolution (300 dpi) JPG or TIFF, submitted separately
- Include a short caption (names, dates, locations)
- Confirm whether the image has been published before or is sourced elsewhere
- Authors are responsible for securing permissions
- If permission is denied but the image is essential, we may assist in sourcing an alternative
- We cannot accept images sourced from the internet without rights clearance
Author Information
All listed authors must:
- Contribute meaningfully to the concept, drafting or interpretation
- Revise the content critically for intellectual accuracy
- Approve the final version for publication
Include with your submission:
- Full name, postnominals
- Position and institution
- Optional: 50–150 word contributor bio for our website
We encourage multidisciplinary and co-authored submissions.
Submitting Case Studies
Case studies should highlight novel or instructive scenarios. You may include a single case or a short series (up to five).
- Word count: Max 1,200 words
- Subheadings: Case Description, Discussion, Conclusion
- Up to 6 references
- Remove identifying details and include signed patient consent
- You may submit a short proposal before submitting the full article
Claiming CPD Hours
Contributors may be able to claim CPD hours for writing published articles in O&G Magazine, in line with the RANZCOG CPD Framework.
- Claim 5 CPD hours under the Educational Activities category
- Log hours in the CPD platform and retain a copy of your published article as evidence
- Refer to the RANZCOG CPD Handbook for guidance
- If you belong to another CPD program (e.g. RACGP or ACRRM), check with your provider
How to submit
Before submitting:
- Include your full name, title and postnominals
- Ensure all images are high resolution with captions and permissions
- Attach a short contributor bio and author headshot (optional)

Letters to the editor may be published online or in print and should relate to an article or topic in obstetrics and gynaecology.
